Stephen O’Malley

Where are you now?

Berlin.

Where would you be?

Paris?

What have you been doing lately?

Stillness and time elasticity abound.
Watching the sky, walking in the woods, Tarkovski.

What are you hearing right now?

City birds singing at sunset.
Echoing voices in the alley.
19h church bells.

Are you taking advantage of this containment period to make music?

Yes indeed.
Although Im essentially living out of a suitcase, some local allies have provided me with some beautiful small valve amplifiers for continuity. My time and creativity has been deeply enriched by new companionship. New collaborations already emerging, and old ones reweaving.

How will the world be after all this?

We don’t know.
I hope we can all find this time for reflection and solace, to experience time and space in a more meaningful and even natural way.

How can we support the music community?

The continuity of music is within the human spirit.
Stick together, friendship.
DIY anonymous artistic ethos vs business.
As usual 99% of us will fall hard.
